Abstract | The Technology for a Sustainable Environment (TSE) program has fundamentally reshaped the research infrastructure in the fields of chemistry and engineering by promoting green practices, nurturing young scientists and engineers, and supporting new collaborations among established researchers and industry. The program has funded research that develops green chemistry, green engineering, and industrial ecology. The TSE program was designed to cultivate science and engineering that use energy and materials more efficiently, and it promotes the discovery and implementation of innovative and environmentally preferable processes and materials that are functionally equivalent and cost-competitive. |
