Abstract | The herbicide 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T), and 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) were teratogenic in the CD-1, DBA/2J, and C57B1/6J strains of mice. Both compounds produced cleft palates and kidney malformations. When these compounds were administered in combination, the activity was not potentiated at the doses employed. In the CD rat, 2,4,5-T was neither teratogenic nor fetotoxic. However, TCDD produced kidney anomalies. Prenatal administration of 2,4,5-T did not affect the postnatal growth and development of the CD rat. |
