Abstract |
The report describes the development and testing of a semiconductor diode laser system to monitor sulfur dioxide by differential absorption of infrared radiation. Laser material was prepared and diodes fabricated which would operate in a temperature-independent region of SO2 absorption. Data concerning sensitivity and interferences from aerosols and other gases were recorded in the laboratory. Field tests were then performed at an operating coal-burning power generating station, with the results compared with SO2 measurements taken with a conventional chemical monitor. (Author) |
