Abstract |
This review of data research has focused on (1) data needs, collection methods, and analysis for transportation program applications conducted by state departments of transportation and regional planning agencies; and (2) data needed to support the kinds of short-range and long-range travel demand model improvements being developed in the Travel Model Improvement Program. This research touches on nearly all aspects of transporation planning, and is particularly important for the development of improved travel demand models. One area of particular relevance is the set of new and advancing technologies which can be used for data collection. The review also covers data requirements of travel models for the future, use of various types of surveys for acquiring data, and a look at new data collection methods and tools the change in technology will bring. |
