| Abstract | Community-based Environmental Protection (CBEP) brings the government closer to the people it is meant to serve. Instead of addressing environmental problems piecemeal, statute by statue, and then applying a one-size-fits-all solution, CBEP addresses environmental problems in the context of the community in which they occur. The following report details how OSWER will be supporting regional, state, tribal, and local community-based efforts. After a brief summary of the attributes of CBEP and a discussion of OSWER's role, the action plan presents current, short-term, and longer-term OSWER activities to support Community-based Environmental Protection. |
