Abstract |
The purpose of the project was to develop and demonstrate a methodology for simultaneously projecting future pollution control costs for all economic activities subject to Federal regulations, which utilized consistent assumptions relating to official Federal projections of the state of the Nation's economy. To assure valid simulation of the impacts of the regulations, the projection model was developed with a scale of sectoral detail that allowed analysis of each industry-specific effluent or emission regulation in effect at the time (nearly 400 sectors). Further the secondary effects of pollution control expenditures on the economy were simulated. The report demonstrates the utility of the methodology for the intended analyses. |
