Abstract |
The mutagenicity of isobutyl alcohol was evaluated in Salmonella tester strains TA1535, TA1537, TA1538, TA98 and TA100 and the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae D4, both in the presence and absence of Aroclor-induced rat liver S9 fraction. Isobutyl alcohol, diluted with DMSO, was tested for mutagenicity at concentrations of 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, 1.0 and 5.0 ul/plate using the agar incorporation method. Isobutyl alcohol did not produce a positive response in any bacterial tester strain, either with or without metabolic activation. |
