Abstract | The report reviews and evaluates the existing waste management operations at the National Reactor Testing Station to determine whether any additional pollution control systems or procedures are necessary or desirable to improve or protect water quality. The NRTS is located near the eastern end of the Snake River Plain in southeastern Idaho. Recommendations for additional water pollution control practices are made to improve and protect the water quality in the Snake Plain Aquifer. They include elimination of disposal wells that discharge waste directly into the ground water supply, the elimination of the use of seepage ponds for the disposal of chemical wastes, and the improvement of some sanitary waste treatment systems. |
