This report is a consequence analysis for the implementation of a new air dispersion model. A consequence analysis is designed to give the user community a sense of how regulatory design concentrations from the new model compare to those from an established model via a series of representative examples. For this study, the new model is AERMOD with the PRIME algorithms. The existing regulatory models used in this report are ISCST3, ISC-PRIME, and CTDMPLUS. This analysis shows, for an extensive number of typical source scenarios, the effects of the new model as compared to the existing regulatory model which it replaces. Overall, except for complex terrain, the models produce rather similar results, although there are significant differences for individual source types and settings. As expected in complex terrain, AERMOD typically produces concentrations that are lower than ISCST3. The model evaluation results, where available, support the differences seen between the models. |
