Abstract | Chronic toxicity was evaluated in hamsters exposed to methyl methacrylate vapor at concentrations of 0, 25, 100, or 400 ppm for a period of 18 months. Mortality rates, after 64 weeks of treatment, in the control, low-, mid-, and high-dose groups were 12.5, 22.2, 16.1, and 28.6% (males) and 32.7, 33.9, 32.1 and 54.5% (females), respectively. The incidence of tissue masses or nodules noted at necropsy of animals found dead or moribund, in the control, low-, mid-, and high-dose groups, were 2/7, 1/12, 1/9, and 2/16 (males) and 2/18, 0/19, 1/18 and 3/30 (females) respectively. Results on statistical tests of these results were notreported. |
