Abstract |
This conference in the matter of pollution of the navigable waters of Moriches Bay and the eastern section of Great South Bay and their tributaries (Long Island, New York) involving the State of New York and the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration, is being held under the provisions of Section 10 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act. Under the provisions of the Act, the Secretary of the Interior is authorized to call a conference of this type when he finds that substantial economic injury results from the inability to market shellfish or shellfish products in interstate commerce because of pollution subject to abatement under the Federal Act, and action of Federal, State, or local authorities.
