Abstract |
The paper discusses two test methods for determining volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in consumer products. Candidate methodologies were selected from non-consumer product applications, and preliminary laboratory work was performed to evaluate the feasibility of two of the candidate methods which were based on gas chromatographic and gravimetric methods. The selected methodology avoids identification and quantitation of specific compounds to protect the confidentiality of product formulations. The resulting methodology must be accurate, reproducible, easy to use, and as efficient and low in cost as possible. |
