Abstract | The attractiveness of onshore and offshore regions based solely upon the location of oil and natural gas resources and the costs of exploration is assessed. The impact of government policies on exploration, e.g., costs of lease acquisition, taxes, environmental regulations and other policies, is analyzed. Environmental hazards which can be anticipated from future exploration patterns are identified and current and potential government policies to safeguard the environment are evaluated. |
