Abstract | Techniques are described for the collection of samples of sewage, polluted waters, soils and similar substrata, and for the culturing from these of various types of filamentous fungi and yeasts. The relationships of such fungi with the habitats in which they are found are briefly discussed. Keys for the identification of different orders, families, genera, and species of fungi cultured from such materials are presented together with lists of habitats from which they have been isolated. Illustrations of most of the genera listed are presented to aid the user in completing an identification. (Author) |
