The Friedman Property site is located in Upper Freehold Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey and is an open, vacant lot with scrub vegetation. The site is bordered by an unnamed tributary to Lahaway Creek, a single-family residential property, and Routes 537 and 539. Between the late 1950's and the early 1970's the site received bulk liquids and household and demolition debris. Due to impending litigation, information regarding contamination at the site is limited, however, investigations have revealed the presence of pentachlorophenol and other volatile organics in ground water samples. The selected remedy for the Friedman Property site consists of no action with regard to remediating the low levels of contamination detected at the site, monitoring on-site wells annually for a five-year period, and recommending that the State of New Jersey request the appropriate local authorities to implement deed restrictions on the property. Total capital cost of the selected remedial alternative is estimated to be $60,000.
