Abstract
A methodology was developed to assess the potential impact of urban development on urban runoff and to measure the relative efficiency of runoff control alternatives. The methodology utilizes runoff frequency curves, derived at different stages of development of the urban catchment. Comparisons of these curves completely quantify the impact of urban development and/or the efficiency of a control structure. Runoff frequency curves are derived directly from the rainfall process. The method of solution utilizes a stochastic model of the rainfall process and a deterministic model of the catchment. The method of solution, referred to as stochastic/deterministic simulation, incorporates the stochastic rainfall model, the deterministic catchment model, and results of the infiltration estimator. Results show that the solution procedure and the methodology developed are practical and are recommended for urban drainage analysis. (Modified author abstract)
