The report evaluates potential pollutants which could be generated in coal-fired fluidized-bed combustion (FBC) processes. The primary emphasis is on organic compounds, trace elements, inorganic compounds (other than SO2 and Nox), and particulates. Using available bench scale or pilot plant data and/or simple thermodynamics and empirical correlations with data from other combustion systems, order of magnitude estimates were made of the concentrations of various elements and compounds in the flue gas, in the solid waste, and in the water discharge.
