Abstract | The report describes the bioaccumulation and depuration of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (2,3,7,8-TCDD), 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzofuran (2,3,7,8-TCDF) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) by three species of marine benthos exposed to contaminated sediment collected from the Passaic River (PR), New Jersey. Organisms were exposed to PR sediments for up to 180 days in the laboratory. In addition, sediments and associated infauna from the New York Bight were collected and analyzed for the same suite of chemical compounds. |
