Abstract | The acute oral LD50 is 1345 and 1902 mg/kg for male and female rats respectively. Clinical signs of toxicity were slight to severe weakness, unkempt hair coat, ataxia, vasodilation, prostration and death. When applied to the depilated abdomen of guinea pigs under an occlusive wrap for 24 hours the compound produced slight skin irritation. Repeated daily applications to the uncovered, clipped backs of guinea pigs produced only slight erythema. Repeated applications did not exacerbate the response. None of ten guinea pigs tested for skin sensitization exhibited a positive reaction. |
