Abstract | This is the final report on a program to demonstrate a low emission vapor generator for automotive Rankine cycle power plants. Program goals were to design and test a low emission system that required low parasitic power, had compact packaging, high steam generator efficiency and suitable controls for fuel, air and water for the regulation of steam pressure and temperature. A steam generator with an output of 1200 pounds per hour at 1000F and 1000 psia was demonstrated by tests to have weighed emissions below the 1976 emission standards over a simulated driving cycle. |
