Abstract | Electrophysiological measures appropriate for use in neurotoxicity testing in children are reviewed. These methods include sensory evoked potentials (auditory brainstem, pattern-reversal visual, somatosensory) and event-related slow potentials (contingent negative variation and association/P300 wave). Selection criteria, strengths and weaknesses of individual tests are discussed. Slow potential and auditory brainstem data from children exposed to lead are presented as examples. |
