Abstract | The physical and mathematical aspects of simultaneous turbulent heat and water vapor exchange between a large open water body and the surrounding atmosphere is studied. Analytical and numerical solutions are developed for various conditions of fetch, surface roughness, atmospheric stability, etc., that are likely to be of physical importance. One of the main findings is that in spite of some theoretical limitations the semi-empirical turbulent diffusion model provides a method for the prediction of heat and water vapor transfer, that should be useful for engineering calculations. |
