Abstract | Preliminary results from a reproductive effects study of ethylene oxide in rats. The one-generation study involved inhalation exposure to ethylene oxide for 6 hours/day, 5 days/week at concentrations of 0, 10, 133, and 100 ppm for 12 weeks prior to mating and during the gestation period. The information provided is no sufficient to permit an evaluation of the toxic effects of ethylene oxide. Histological examination of the adrenals, thymus, and gonads will probably establish the significance of the reproductive effects seen at 100 ppm. More data will be required to assess the depression of weight gain observed at 33 ppm. |
