Abstract |
This report presents the development of a mathematical model designed to calculate the rise and dilution of plumes from multiple cell mechanical draft cooling towers. The model uses integral methods and includes the initial development zone/ the individual single plume zone, and the zone of merging multiple plumes. Although the governing equations for moist plumes are presented, the final working equations are or dry plumes only. Techniques are used that allow for a gradual merging of plumes without a discontinuity in the calculation of plume properties. Entrainment techneques that include the interference of unmerged plumes and the reduction of entrainment surfaces after merging are presented. The entrainment expression includes coefficients that need to be determined by tuning the model with experimental data. |
