Abstract |
This is the fifth Ocean Survey Vessel Bold annual report. It highlights the ship's 2010 scientific survey accomplishments, capabilities, and the unique role that this vessel plays in supporting EPA's monitoring and assessment programs. In 2010, the OSV Bold supported scientific surveys in a variety of geographic areas, including the Atlantic Coast, the Gulf of Mexico, the Florida Keys, and the Caribbean Sea. The survey missions included monitoring ocean dredged material disposal sites, coastal eutrophication and toxicity assessments, monitoring ocean outfalls, assessing critical coral reef habitats, and monitoring hypoxia in the Gulf of Mexico. During this period, the OSV Bold completed 29 oceanographic surveys, involving hundreds of sampling locations, while spending 238 days at sea. |
