Abstract | Preliminary efforts toward a theory of the Wilson chamber were proven unsatisfactory. Especially, agreement with experiments was lacking, and invalid a priori assumptions had been introduced. A new theory is given that describes the experiments available to date correctly. However, the value introduced for the dielectric constant cannot yet be purely theoretically justified. Furthermore, the theory of electrochemical flashover voltage has been developed, that originated from a new phase that needs be separated from the nucleus formation, and was compared with the experiments of T. Erdey-Gruz and H. Wick. |
