Abstract |
The report presents information on the occurrence of Volatile Organic Contaminants (VOC's) in public drinking water supplies, food, and ambient air in the United States and an estimate of human intake of VOC's from those sources. Federal survey data on VOC's levels in the drinking water systems were combined and stratified according to water source (surface and ground) and size based on population served. These data were used to project a national profile of VOC levels in drinking water that yields estimates of the number of systems of each source/size category, and the total population served by them, at each exposure level. |
