Abstract |
This report presents the results of a preliminary determination of the feasibility of energy recovery with and without the combustion of sewage sludge. Such determination involved analysis of weighing records for solid waste handled by the County and County estimates of sludge generated at County sewage treatment plants; development and technical assessment of alternative energy recovery options; and study estimates of capital and operating maintenance costs associated with the most viable energy recovery options. The study conclusion is that the County should give serious consideration to undertaking an indepth feasibility analysis of energy recovery with codisposal of sludge, and suggest several technical, economic, financing, and legal/institutional areas that should be given special attention. |
