Abstract |
The company has recently completed a two week preliminary oral toxicity study with dogs. S-1955 (experimental insecticide and miticide) was administered daily by oral capsule to beagle dogs (two/sex/group) at doses of 0 (control), 10, 30, and 100 mg/kg/day for two weeks. Two males and one female in the highest dose group showed signs of convulsions. One female and one male died on day 14. In addition, tremor, salivation and/or hypoactivity were observed in other animals receiving this dose level. For those animals receiving 30 mg/kg/day, slight decreases in food consumption were observed, but no neurotoxic signs were observed. Histopathological examinations have not yet been performed on the animals. |
