Abstract |
This document presents: (1) a comprehensive survey of the damaging effects of air pollutants - particulates, SOx, NOx, and ozone - on textile fibers and dyes, and (2) the results and assessment of a public opinion survey to primarily measure consumer awareness of the detrimental effects of air pollution on household textile products. Nearly 100 references are cited and many of the research investigations are detailed and discussed. The survey found that air pollution represents a significant problem area for the textile industry and many consumers. The public opinion survey revealed that consumer awareness of the major air pollution effects on household textile products is poorly established and generally lacking. |
