Abstract |
The publication is an update of a 1979 EPA publication: Environmental Pollution Control Alternatives: Economics of Wastewater Treatment Alternatives for the Electroplating Industry; NTIS publication number PB84-184555. It has been revised to reflect changes in technologies and prices and in the EPA regulations that directly affect costs in the electroplating industry. The publication contains information on the cost of treating such wastes by alternative technologies that were extant at the time of preparation in 1985. Moreover, the rising costs for treating such effluents over a prior 12-year period is shown. Technologies and approaches for implementing the technologies to reduce the costs of complying with EPA regulations are contained in the publication. Cost trade-offs are examined briefly. Lastly, materials recovery technologies, which result in decreased costs, are discussed briefly. |
