Abstract |
A detailed protocol was developed to measure first- and second-order hydrolysis rate constants for organic chemicals for use in models for predicting persistence in aquatic systems. The protocol delineates theoretical considerations, laboratory experiments, and calculation procedures. Repetitive application of the protocol to measure hydrolysis rate constants for four standard reference compounds over a period of 2 yielded coefficients of variation of less than 12 percent in the measurements. |
