Abstract | In evaluating the statewide emissions of Louisiana, the following five pollutants were considered: Sulfur oxides, particulates, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbons and their derivatives. A Universal Transverse Mercator grid system was used in locating the emission sources for the state and the three areas studied: New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lake Charles. Data was accumulated in two main categories: Area sources and Point sources. Area sources include the small polluters such as residential and commercial fuel combustion, on-site solid waste disposal, and transportation emissions. Point sources include the larger polluters such as manufacturing establishments. |
