Abstract | Under Section 109 of the Clean Air Act, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency intends to propose a National Ambient Air Quality Standard for lead. The sources and 1975 ambient air concentrations of lead, trends in growth, and existence and potential for lead emissions control have been summarized. Emission control strategies have been developed and, under one strategy developed, the nationwide environmental impacts of establishing the standard at 1.0 micrograms/cu m, at 1.5 micrograms/cu m, or at 2.0 micrograms/cu m have been assessed. |
