Abstract |
This handbook discusses regulations and requirements for obtaining permits for incinerator facilities. Two sections of the handbook briefly describe the permitting process for both existing and new incinerators. The sections identify the point where the trial burn fits into the overall permitting procedures and the points where the permit writer must evaluate the trial burn information. The handbook gives guidance on assessing the trial burn plan (If prior agency approval is sought or required), the trial burn results, and how to establish the 'permit conditions', that is, operating conditions specified in the permit that is issued for the facility. The handbook also includes an example test case and guidelines for inspection and maintenance of a facility. The appendices include guidance for incinerator review, designations of principal organic hazardous constituents, and example reporting forms. |
