Abstract | A GC method has been developed for the quantitative analysis of halogenated gases (chloromethane, bromomethane, chloroethane, vinyl chloride) in water. An aqueous sample is purged directly to a cryogenically cooled, capillary column for 45 seconds followed by separation of the analytes by temperature programmed gas chromatography. A Nafion tube is used to dry the purge stream and selectively remove methanol which can co-elute with the compounds of interest. Examples of the rapid, purge/GC technique are also presented for volatile halocarbons and aromatics. (Copyright (c) 1988 Dr. Alfred Huethig Publishers.) |
