Abstract | A 15-month chemical and biological investigation was made of existing sewage stabilization ponds in Wisconsin. These received raw sewage, settled sewage, and trickling filter treated sewage at loadings ranging from 5 to 55 pounds of B.O.D. per 100,000 square feet per day. The efficiency of these ponds at this latitude was found to be comparable with, and, during optimum climatic conditions, somewhat superior to conventional secondary treatment. |
