Abstract | Aldehyde and reactive organic emissions as well as carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen emissions from automobiles equipped with various types of advanced prototype emission control systems including both catalytic and thermal reactor type systems were measured. The aim was to characterize aldehyde and reactive organic emissions from vehicles with prototype advanced emission control systems to provide data necessary to help determine if there is a need for aldehyde and/or reactive organic motor vehicle regulations, and to determine on a preliminary basis, the effect of ambient temperature on the emission characteristics of advanced emission control systems.
