Pursuant to Sections 301, 304, 306, 307, and 501 of the Clean Water Act, EPA has collected and analyzed data for plants in the Canmaking Subcategory of the Coil Coating Point Source Category. There are no existing national effluent limitations or standards for canmaking. This document and the administrative record provide the technical basis for proposing effluent limitations for existing direct dischargers, standards for new source direct dischargers, and pretreatment standards for new and existing indirect dischargers. The regulation of canmaking is included in the coil coating category because the materials processed, processes used, and wastewater characteristics are generally similar to those in coil coating.
