Abstract | Following contamination of the Morris Forman Wastewater Treatment Plant, Louisville, KY, by hexachlorocyclopentadiene and octachlorocyclopentene, large volumes of these contaminants were isolated on the plant site. An extensive program of monitoring ambient air was developed for the protection of plant personnel and the general public during destruction of the material with on-site equipment. This document describes in detail the technique used to monitor the air and compares that technique with OSHA routine air monitoring techniques used in the workplace. |
