Abstract |
The ability of acetone cyanohydrin to induce mutations at the HGPRT gene locus in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells in vitro was evaluated in the presence and absence of Aroclor-induced rat liver S9 metabolic activation. Based on preliminary toxicity determinations, acetone cyanohydrin was tested for mutagenicity at 5 concentrations over the range of 100-950 ug/ml, with cell survival ranging from 101-37% without activation and 102-49% with activation. There were no significant differences between treated and control (untreated) cultures with respect to mutation frequencies at any of the concentrations tested, either with or withoutactivation. |
