Abstract | The papers which are included in this bibliography contain data on the harmful effects of algicides, insecticides, and weedicides on aquatic organisms other than those which they were designed to control. A bibliography published in 1953 by the U.S. Public Health Service, lists pertinent articles on the effectiveness of various chemicals for the control of algae and the higher aquatic plants. Algicides, insecticides and weedicides perform an important and essential function. The purpose of the report is not to discourage their use but rather to enable those who use these economic poisons to minimize or eliminate their damages to aquatic life. |
