Abstract |
Models-3 is the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) next generation air quality modeling and analysis system. It is an object-oriented, distributed computing and analysis system, which includes emission projections and control costs estimation, meteorology, and chemistry-transport modeling subsystems. In accordance with Models-3 development procedures, verification and validation testing of the emission subsystem components is being implemented with benchmarking of GEMAP V.1.3 against results from the flexible Regional Emissions Data System (FREDS). The emission data base used for both GEMAP and FREDS is EPA's 1990 Regional Interim Emission Inventory. The objective of the benchmarking is to compare the initial set of GEMAP V.1.3 results with the corresponding FREDS output and determine the consistency between the two results. |
