Abstract |
Mean monthly patterns of the diurnal variation of the wind, temperature and turbulence over the lower 300 m are computed, using data collected on the 365 m WJBF-TV meteorological mast located 11 km southeast of Augusta, Georgia. A review is presented of the seasonal variations observed in these patterns for the five-year period from 1975 through 1979. Clearly evident were the seasonal variations in the 10-m values of wind and temperature. Little seasonal variation was evident in the diurnal profiles of turbulence. Comparison results are presented of the diurnal patterns for June 1976 simulated by a meteorological processor using as input the hourly NWS reports from Augusta and twice-daily radiosonde reports from Athens, Georgia. |
