Abstract |
The macrofauna and meiofauna of three oiled and three control experimental ecosystems at the Marine Ecosystems Research Laboratory were followed for 25 weeks of semi-continuous additions of an oil-water dispersion of No. 2 fuel oil. Water column hydrocarbon levels were maintained. This simulated chronic oil pollution resulted in a highly significant decline in the number of macrofaunal and meiofaunal individuals in the experimental tanks compared with the controls. |
