Abstract | A detailed derivation of the equations which describe the generation of turbulence in the atmosphere and the equations which govern the transport of pollutants in the atmosphere is given. The equations are valid for motions which are small departures from an atmosphere at rest and in adiabatic equilibrium, but the usual assumption that the motion is restricted to thin layers, which leads to the Boussinesq approximation, is relaxed. |
