Abstract |
The theory and programming of statistical tests for evaluating the Real-Time Air-Quality Model (RAM) using the Regional Air Pollution Study (RAPS) data base are fully documented in four volumes. Moreover, the tests are generally applicable to other model evaluation problems. Volume 2 presents the tests considered for evaluating air-quality simulation models in general and those that would be useful in evaluating the RAM. The capability of the RAM to predict sulfur dioxide (SO2) concentrations was of particular interest. Specific tests for both intermediate and final evaluations are recommended, with accompanying descriptions of formats, plots, and procedures to establish confidence limits. Discussion focuses on the mathematics, procedures, and interpretation of the individual tests; their relevance to the project objectives; and possible trade-offs among tests. |
Notes |
The theory and programming of statistical tests for evaluating the Real-Time Air-Quality Model (RAM) using the Regional Air Pollution Study (RAPS) data base are fully documented in four report volumes. Moreover, the tests are generally applicable to other model evaluation problems. Volume 1 presents an overview of the tests, displays, software, and application of the resulting statistical package. |
