Abstract |
The discussion in the review will focus on immunological markers of susceptibility to environmental pollutants. Since very little is known about this particular area, parts of the review will be of a speculative nature. The term 'immune system' will be used in its broad sense to cover the specific and nonspecific cellular and humoral elements of the immune system as well as the cells and the mediators of the inflammatory and allergic responses. The major focus will be on the pulmonary immune system. |
