Abstract |
Acute dermal toxicity was evaluated in groups of 6 male New Zealand White rabbits receiving single occluded applications of hexanedinitrile at dose levels of 1000, 1250, 1350, 1500, 2000, and 4000 mg/kg of body weight. The test article was held in contact with the intact skin for a period of 24 hours. Mortality was observed within 14 days of treatment in 3-4 animals at dose levels 1350 to 4000 mg/kg; the LD50 was calculated to be 2134 mg/kg of body weight. Clinical observations included gasping, diarrhea and lethargy. Intermittent weight loss was noted at all levels. Gross necropsy was not reported. |
