Abstract |
The systemic pathology results of a cutaneous carcinogenicity study of 498 male and female CF1 mice (number/group and dose levels not reported) treated twice a week for up to 2 years with topical applications of 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether were reported. Early death was observed in 393 animals of which 231 were attributable to neoplasia. Of the 575 systemic tumors observed in 389 animals, 264 were benign and 311 were malignant with 15 mice delveloping distant metastases. A statistically significant increase in the incidence of lymphoblastic lymphosarcoma was observed in females. The investigators reported the evidence was not conclusive that 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether is a systemic carcinogen under the test conditions. |
